2.4 Verbs ending with -er
The final verb type ends with -er. Again, we will focus for now only on regular verb forms.
As always, we start by removing the ending in the infinitive form (-er). For example, the stem for comer (to eat) is com. The conjugation is as follows:
| yo |
-o |
nosotros/nosotras |
-emos |
| tú |
-es |
vosotros/vosotras |
-éis |
| él, ella |
-e |
ellos/ellas |
-en |
Now you take the stem and form the conjugation by using the right endings:
| yo como = I eat |
|
| tú comes = you eat |
|
| él come = he eats |
|
| ella come = she eats |
|
| nosotros comemos = we eat (masculine) |
|
| nosotras comemos = we eat (feminine) |
|
| vosotros coméis = you eat (masculine) |
|
| vosotras coméis = you eat (feminine) |
|
| ellos comen = they eat (masculine) |
|
| ellas comen = they eat (feminine) |
|
Here you find now a summary of all three conjugation types. As you can see the basic logic is the same. Now it's up to you to get them into your head:
